Botox - The Facts!

You've heard of Botox for years, your friends have tried it and love it...BUT you've seen the scary pictures of celebrities with "plastic faces" and you definitely do NOT want to look like THAT!

Never fear! Dry Creek Laser & Aesthetics is here
with answers to your questions.
Botox is a safe and effective product that we are pleased to offer our clients!

What is Botox?
Botox is botulinum toxin (sounds scary, right? Keep reading!) that has been FDA approved for the temporary treatment of fine lines and wrinkles. Botulinum Toxin is a protein produced by a bacteria and is a powerful neurotoxin.

How does Botox get rid of my wrinkles?
Botox is injected directly into a muscle. It blocks the nerve impulses that normally signal that muscle to contract. This reduces the muscle activity that causes wrinkles to form. When that muscle can no longer contract, it can no longer form wrinkles!

Is Botox Safe?
Words like “neurotoxin,” “injected,” and “botulinum toxin,” sound scary and many wonder if Botox is safe. As with any medicine, there are possible side effects and contraindications; but it is safe for most people and it is FDA approved for treating wrinkles.

At Dry Creek Laser & Aesthetics your Botox procedure will be performed in a clean medical office, by a physician or  nurse practitioner who has been  specially certified in Botox injections. We don't dilute Botox with any “filler” ingredients and your provider will consult with you about possible side effects and contraindications before they perform the procedure.

 Dr Richard K Sharp
Are there side-effects after Botox injections?
Some uncommon, but  possible side effects of Botox are:
dry mouth
discomfort or pain at the injection site
tiredness
headache
neck pain
Eye problems: double vision, blurred vision, decreased eyesight, drooping eyelids, swelling eyelids, dry eyes.
Allergic reactions: symptoms may include: itching, rash, red itchy welts, wheezing, asthma, or dizziness.

When will I see results after my Botox appointment?
Many of our clients see results within 5 - 7 days. Lines continue to improve for up to 30 days and results typically last for 3 or 4 months. If you continue to schedule Botox injections, your results will last longer and longer each time! If you do not continue treatment, the fine lines and wrinkles will slowly return.

Do Botox injections hurt?
Discomfort is usually minimal. Most injection appointments only take 10 to 15 minutes and most patients don't require any downtime after their appointment. Holding a cool ice pack over the injection sites may help with some immediate tenderness.

Will I still be able to make facial expressions after Botox injections?
Botox injections will not radically change your appearance. You can still frown or look surprised, but without the wrinkles and creases!

How much does Botox cost?
At Dry Creek Laser & AestheticsBotox is $10 per unit.
Typically, the forehead requires 20 – 28 units.
Crows feet (at the corner of your eyes) require 4 – 8 units per eye.
Frown lines between eyebrows usually require 8 – 12 units.

Latisse - what you need to know!

Many of you have heard about LATISSE and how it can help you grow longer, thicker, darker lashes! We get lots of questions about this fun product and we thought it would be good to provide some answers to frequently-asked-questions! Here is what you  need to know!

Latisse is a product made by Allergan, the same company that brought you Botox Cosmetic Injections, Juvederm Gel Injections and Vivite skin care products. They are a company that has earned the trust of doctors nationwide and we feel great offering their products because we know they've done their research!

Latisse was discovered by coincidence when a pharmaceutical product, called Lumigan, was being tested for use in treating glaucoma (an eye condition leading to damage of the optic nerve). Patients using Lumigan noticed their eyelashes were growing longer, thicker, and darker! Further research was done, and Latisse was born!

Latisse has been FDA approved for the treatment of "hypotrichosis," which is a fancy word for "not enough eye lashes." In just 4 weeks, you will have longer, thicker, darker eyelashes! After 8 weeks, they are nearly double what you started with, and after 16 weeks, your lashes will reach their full, beautiful potential!

Latisse is a topical product (it comes in a dropper bottle with application brushes) that is applied to the eyelid, right at the lash line, each night before bed.

Latisse is safe to use and has very few possible side-effects.

- A small portion of clients notice a dry, itchy, or burning sensation when they apply Latisse. If this is the case, don't worry! Don't use your Latisse as frequently and that will go away. Using it 2 or 3 times a week will still be effective, it will just take a little longer to get your most beautiful results!

- Another small group of clients notice that the skin on their lash line slowly turns darker. This is also nothing to worry about! The pigment will fade away and using the Latisse less frequently will prevent it from happening again.

- There is mention on the television ads of the possibility of dying the iris (the colored portion of your eye) to a darker color. Allergan includes this information because theoretically, that could be possible, but it has never actually been seen in any clinical trials  and has never been reported by a prescribing physician. If a client dropped large quantities of Latisse, directly on the eyeball, multiple times for consecutive days, there would be a possibility of dying brown eyes darker brown, or dying brown "flecks" to darker brown "flecks." Even in this unlikely scenario, light eyes would not be affected.

Latisse is a pharmaceutical and thus, must be prescribed by a physician or other mid-level practitioner with prescribing authority. Likewise, it is distributed through doctor's offices, and not pharmacies. At Dry Creek Laser & Aesthetics, we offer short, FREE appointments for patients who want a Latisse prescription. (Call 801.766.4214 to schedule)

So, now you know! Latisse is wonderful way to give your eyes that extra punch you've been looking for!

Allergan is offering a $25 mail-in-rebate through November! You can't beat that pricing!
Purchase Latisse at our office for a low rate of just $97!
Then, mail in your rebate card and get $25 back!

*A popular competing product, Revitelash, is NOT a pharmaceutical and sells at a suggested retail price of $150! Purchase a pharmaceutical grade product, from a company you can trust, prescribed by a physician. You'll see superior results AND save money!
